Kindergarten Prep K Prep Anchor About The Kindergarten Prep program teaches children ages 3 to 5 English language fluency, social emotional skills, and how to be successful in a classroom. These skills allow our students to make the transition to Kindergarten more easily. Our curriculum is play based. This supports our students in their natural drive to learn. CARES – Community, Advocacy, Resources and Education The Community, Advocacy, Resources and Education team is there to help any immigrant and refugee to connect with organizations and services. Basic Needs Rent Assistance RMWC provides assistance of up to $1,000 towards one month of rent for immigrant and refugee families who are more than one month behind, subject to availability of funding. Ethnic Food Assistance RMWC collaborates with ethnic restaurants and supermarkets to offer culturally appropriate food aid, including halal options, to low-income immigrant and refugee families. English Teatime A tailored program catering to Afghan women, offering a safe and supportive environment to socialize, learn English, and develop other skills. Guided by our Dari Cultural Navigator, participants engage in meaningful activities, fostering empowerment, growth, and community connections. Legal Support In 2024, RMWC assisted almost 200 newcomers in navigating the Temporary Protection Status (TPS) Application process, in collaboration with the Colorado Office of New Americans. Currently, we're developing a program to aid immigrants in navigating the complexities of the legal immigration system. Mental Health Services RMWC facilitates mental health support groups led by counselors, as well as one-on-one therapy sessions with licensed therapists. Our long-term goal is to establish our own mental health clinic.

Children Education Services Children Education Services We provide children with the resources they may not have at home. When younger generations thrive, they assist and inspire the rest of the family. Kindergarten Prep This program caters to immigrant and refugee children ages 3 to 5, aiming to equip them with essential skills for kindergarten readiness. Our curriculum prioritizes play-based learning focusing on teaching children language fluency, social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, recognizing emotions, empathy and problem solving. Additionally, we empathize the development of group social skills, reading, writing, and math, aligning with children's innate curiosity and eagerness to explore. We foster an environment of joy and enthusiasm, nurturing a sense of community, and intercultural understanding among both students and teachers. Online Learning Lessons Parents can utilize these lessons to assist their children in comprehending English and American culture. They can also leverage these videos to steer their young learners away from other potentially questionable online content. Remote Learning Lessons Rocky Mountain Readers (RMR) Rocky Mountain Readers program is specifically designed for primary-school-ages immigrant and refugee children who are one year or more behind their grade level in reading, this highly structured program is facilitated by a literacy expert instructor. Each cohort accommodates up to 12 children, organized into three groups. Throughout the program, participants rotate between lessons led by instructors, engaging literacy games, and a computer lab. “RMWC’s Kindergarten Prep gave my kids a quality experience in a school-like setting that was small, personable and safe. We felt welcome from the moment we first walked through RMWC’s doors. We now feel more at ease integrating into Denver Public Schools this fall." - RMWC participant parent
